France releases seized Russian-linked tanker

Thursday, 16 April 2026 at 06:47 UTC · 3 sources

France has released the tanker Deyna, part of Russia's so-called "shadow fleet," which had been detained in late March. French authorities allowed the vessel to leave the port of Marseille after accusing the crew of using a false flag. In court, the ship's owner failed to prove the vessel's legitimacy, leading to its release. The tanker was originally seized on March 20 while heading from Russia under a Mozambican flag.
