The United States and its allies have conducted secret military exercises, codenamed Apollo Insight, to prepare for the potential deployment of Russian nuclear weapons in space. The drills simulated the consequences of a nuclear explosion that could disable up to 80% of all satellites in orbit. According to the head of US Space Command, such an event would disrupt global military intelligence, communications, the internet, mobile networks, and GPS. The exercises were reported by Defense One, with The Times detailing the Russian orbital nuclear weapon threat.
