Rescue operation for beached whale Timmy begins

A new rescue operation for the beached humpback whale Timmy off the Baltic coast is now underway. The Mecklenburg‑Vorpommern Ministry of Environment has given the green light for the coordinated effort. Environment Minister Till Backhaus stated the goal is to 'accompany, control & monitor' the rescue attempt. The operation follows previous unsuccessful attempts to free the whale, which has been stranded for several days.
