US sanctions Iran-linked oil, gold networks

The U.S. Treasury Department has imposed new sanctions targeting two distinct financial networks that support the Iranian regime. One set of sanctions targets an oil smuggling network allegedly run by Mohammad Hossein Shamkhani, the son of the now-deceased senior Iranian security official Ali Shamkhani. The other sanctions are aimed at entities tied to a Hezbollah gold scheme that ultimately benefits Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and its Quds Force. These actions represent a continued effort to disrupt Iran's revenue streams and its support for proxy groups. The sanctions freeze any U.S. assets of the designated individuals and entities and prohibit Americans from dealing with them.
