The Russian cryptocurrency exchange Grinex has been hacked, resulting in the theft of 1 billion rubles (approximately $15 million). The company has suspended operations and stated that the digital traces and nature of the attack indicate an 'unprecedented level of resources and technology' available only to 'structures of unfriendly states,' implying Western intelligence involvement. The stolen funds were converted into TRX cryptocurrency and transferred to a wallet holding 45.9 million TRX. Grinex, which was sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury Department in 2025 as a successor to the closed Russian exchange Garantex, has reported the incident to law enforcement.
