A senior Iranian official says that while some progress has been made, significant splits remain between the United States and Iran as they push for an agreement under Pakistani mediation. The official stated that more than halfway through a two-week truce, major disagreements persist, particularly over Tehran's nuclear ambitions. The talks are a continuation of diplomatic efforts that began with the visit of Pakistan's Field Marshal Asim Munir to Tehran, which had raised hopes for a second round of negotiations.
