US Army ramps up Apache anti-drone ammo production

The US Army is significantly increasing production of a new type of ammunition for its AH-64 Apache attack helicopters designed to counter unmanned aerial systems. The service anticipates a five-fold increase in procurement of the XM1225 APEX (Advanced Precision Extended Range) cannon shell. The 30mm round is intended to provide Apaches with a more effective and cost-efficient means of engaging drone swarms and other small aerial threats. This ramp-up reflects the growing priority of counter-drone capabilities in modern warfare.
