Russian state nuclear corporation chief Alexey Likhachev has accused Ukrainian forces of continuing to shell the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP). The plant, Europe's largest, has been under Russian occupation since March 2022 and has been a repeated flashpoint, with both sides blaming each other for attacks that risk a nuclear incident. Likhachev's statement is the latest in a series of Russian allegations, though independent verification is difficult. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) maintains a permanent presence at the site to monitor safety and security.
