The U.S. Department of the Treasury has officially confirmed that a 30-day waiver permitting the delivery, sale, and offloading of Iranian-origin crude oil and petroleum products will not be renewed. This authorization, issued on March 20, will expire on April 19 and had allowed already loaded oil cargoes to enter global markets. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent previously described the waiver as a short-term measure to control energy prices. The expiration of the waiver is a step in tightening the U.S. economic and naval blockade of Iran.
