Israel proposes 3-zone peace plan for Lebanon

Negotiations between Israel and Lebanon have begun at the U.S. State Department, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio serving as mediator. Lebanon is seeking an immediate ceasefire and humanitarian aid, while Israel is focusing the talks on Hezbollah's disarmament and normalization. Israel has proposed a peace plan that would establish three zones in Lebanon, including an 8-km buffer zone from the coast to Mount Hermon that would be permanently occupied with no guarantee of civilian return, to protect Israeli settlements.
