According to the monitoring group Tanker Trackers, a non-Iranian Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) supertanker has successfully transited the Strait of Hormuz and entered Iranian waters. The vessel, which is sanctioned by the U.S. Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and can carry about 2 million barrels of crude, made the transit while broadcasting its location via its Automatic Identification System (AIS). This transit occurs amid the ongoing U.S. naval blockade of Iran, which is being enforced by U.S. Navy destroyers in the region.
