Israel's Ambassador to the United States, Yechiel Leiter, has stated that Israel does not want France involved in the ongoing Israel-Lebanon negotiations, aiming to keep them "as far away as possible from pretty much everything." He bluntly assessed that France is "not needed" and is "not a positive influence" in the talks. The negotiations, hosted by the United States in Washington, D.C., are focused on border security and the future of Hezbollah. Israel's public dismissal of a potential French role underscores its preference for a U.S.-led mediation process.
