Following the serious injury of the commander of the IDF's 52nd Battalion in southern Lebanon, the military has announced that a former commander, Lt. Col. Daniel Ella, will return to lead the unit temporarily. Ella previously commanded the battalion and was moderately wounded during fighting in Gaza in July 2024. He briefly served as acting commander again after his successor was severely wounded in October 2024, before the latest commander took over. This marks his second return to the role as the IDF continues its operations along the Lebanese border.
