India's state-owned gas utility GAIL has approved a massive investment of Rs 3,800 crore (approximately $4.6 billion) to develop 700 MW of solar power projects across Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. The plan includes a major 600-MW solar project with a 550-MWh battery energy storage system at the TUSCO Solar Park in Jhansi, which will primarily support GAIL's petrochemical plant in Pata, Uttar Pradesh. This investment is a key part of GAIL's broader net-zero strategy and will push its total renewable energy capacity beyond 1,000 MW.
