A Financial Times investigation reveals that Iran secretly obtained a Chinese-built spy satellite, TEE-01B, in late 2024 through the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Aerospace Force. Leaked documents show the satellite was used to monitor key U.S. military bases across the Middle East last month during the war, generating time-stamped imagery and coordinates before and after drone and missile strikes to help plan attacks and assess damage. The satellite, built by a Chinese company and supported by ground stations operated by a Beijing-based provider, has been used to observe sites in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, Djibouti, Oman, and parts of the UAE, including both military and civilian infrastructure.
