Reports indicate Iran and the United States have reached an agreement "in principle" to extend their ceasefire beyond its two-week deadline next Wednesday. This development directly contradicts earlier official denials from both Washington and Tehran regarding any intention to prolong the truce. Concurrently, there are separate reports that Washington is pressuring Israel to halt its military operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon, linking regional de-escalation efforts.
Both sides have now explicitly denied intentions to extend the ceasefire, with Iran demanding proof of US seriousness and the US stating no official agreement exists, though contacts continue.
