India prepares legal framework for Pakistan-occupied Kashmir

India is preparing a legal framework for the administration of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The proposed Delimitation Bill includes a provision for the Election Commission of India to conduct a constituency delimitation exercise in the region once it returns to Indian control. The bill also reportedly reserves 24 assembly seats for the region, which India considers to be under illegal occupation. This legislative move signals New Delhi's intent to formalize its territorial claim over the disputed territory.
