India passes Delimitation Bill for PoJK

India's parliament has passed the Delimitation Bill 2026, reinforcing the country's position that Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) is an integral part of India. The legislation empowers the Election Commission of India to conduct delimitation exercises in PoJK once the region is no longer under occupation. The bill also ensures the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly will maintain a minimum strength of 114 seats, with 24 seats reserved for PoJK, and may increase women's representation from two to three nominated members after fresh delimitation.
